HOW LONG SHOULD I STAY IN BALI? WHAT ARE THE PLACES TO VISIT?

You can easily spend more than a month in Bali !!!

Despite being a very small island Bali is a very diverse place. Hence, what you want to do depends on your preference.

If you like the beach and want to add some culture and nature then you can consider doing the following:

Once you arrive in Bali you can head to Kuta/Legian/Seminyak area. You can also go to Sanur if you like everything at a slower pace. Legian and Seminyak is a better place if you want to avoid people walking around with a hang-over.

Things to do:

Just relax on the first day in Bali, go to a spa, lie down on the beach. Have a drink or two at the beach. (Note: The Indian Nomad does not encourage drinking. If you drink, please drink responsibly)

From here you can head to Ubud on the next day, the cultural center of Bali. A lot of people go to Ubud for shopping, eating, nature walks (ricefield walks) etc. But there are some who even go there for some yoga sessions etc. The atmosphere is very nice and you will see more Balinese culture here.

Things to do in Ubud:

Take a Ricefield walk inside the rice fields, take a bike tour, plan for a day trip to Kintamani or surrounding temples, pamper yourself at the spa, take a cooking class etc.

From Ubud you can either continue going north pass the mountains towards Lovina. Here you can go on a Dolphin trip and do some great snorkeling at Menjangan island, which is located about 20minute drive from Lovina.

Go to the magnificent Gili Islands:

Gili islands are a great place if you want to hang on the beach, relax and go snorkeling. The Gili Islands are a group of 3 tiny islands – Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air – in Indonesia, near the coast of northwest Lombok Island. Characterized by sandy beaches fringed with palm trees, they're known for their coral reefs just offshore. On the smallest island of Gili Meno, sea turtles swim at Turtle Point. At Gili Trawangan, the largest island, a sunken ship sits at Wreck Point near Mentigi Beach.

Go to the beautiful temples:

Tanah Lot, Uluwatu, Besakih, Goa Gajah, Pura Ulun Danu Beratan, Taman Ayun.

If you like pork, then you must try out the dish called "Babi Guling". However, i did not had the courage to have it because it was too graphic!

Go to the popular nightclubs:

Some of the best and popular nightclubs are The Potato Head Beach Club and the Ku De Ta Club. There are numerous other clubs as well but The Indian Nomad recommended these two.

Enjoy the amazing water sports on offer:

Bali has a range of water sports to offer. These include rafting, scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing, ocean walking, jetski etc. Enjoy as per your interests. Remember one thing. Water sports are comparatively expensive at Bali. It may range from Rs 6000 per person per sport minimum.
